Help your family and your neighbors in case of an emergency. Help prevent the spread of dangerous illnesses in your county.

HPP has partnered with Ft. Bend County Health and Human Services and Brazoria County Health Department to develop the capabilities of the Medical Reserve Corps. This team will respond to any public health emergency in the county and will staff Points of Distribution for medications if large numbers of county residents required preventive medications.

There are volunteer positions for everyone, regardless of skills and capabilities. No medical training is required. HPP will provide a special training program for volunteers who sign up.

A volunteer can expect to spend approximately 3 hours in the initial training and another 8 hours per year participating in exercises. If you want to do more, there will be additional opportunities. Training will be held at various locations and times to accommodate most schedules.

In an actual emergency, the Medical Reserve Corps will help distribute critical medications through Points of Distribution (PODs) that will be set up around the county. The PODs will operate in 12 hour shifts for up to three days. Volunteers and their immediate families will receive medications prior to the opening of the PODs.
